Temperature tower scorecard

Score each block, then let the rules pick the temperature: click the cells on screen, or print the card and use a pen. How to judge each feature: temperature tower guide.

Write down too: filament brand, type, colour, the file (coarse 10 °C or fine 5 °C), nozzle, test flow (10 mm³/s), date. A card without them is useless next month.

The columns follow the hexagonal tower model v2.3.0, in reading order: Strings first (before you touch the tower), the Flag last. Label and Surface only confirm; the Hole column is not counted at all. Pick your file in the menu (coarse files have 10 °C steps, fine files 5 °C). TPU: mark the Flag column – on every block. Printed on A4: the rules on page 1, the whole grid on page 2.

How the best block is chosen

  1. Hold the tower with the engraved numbers facing you. Score each block on its own, above its bottom 1 mm (there the temperature was still changing): ✓ pass, H fails because it is too hot, C fails because it is too cold, – cannot judge (damaged, not printed, not scored for this material).
  2. Strings first, before you touch the tower: brushing or handling removes them.
  3. Strength first. A block whose snap flag fails is out, however good it looks: a part that splits between layers is never the right answer. (TPU: the flag is not scored; skip this rule.)
  4. Among the blocks left, the one with the most ✓ wins. The Hole column is not counted: mark it to see whether it agrees, it never adds a ✓ and never breaks a tie.
  5. Tie: the block with fewer failures (H + C) wins.
  6. Still a tie: the cooler block wins.
  7. Note: for parts that must be strong, go one block hotter than the block the rules picked.
  8. Not every column changes. At the tower's flow and over a wide range, the strings usually show the hot end, and the smooth face and the top of the bridge show the cold end; the label, the hole and the ramp may look the same on every block. A column that does not change gets ✓ on every block: the flag and the columns that do change decide. The hole is never counted.
  9. Sanity check: H marks belong at the bottom (hot end) and C marks at the top (cold end). An H above a C, or marks scattered at random, means something other than temperature is at work: see Troubleshooting.

Click a cell to cycle: blank → ✓ pass → H too hot → C too cold → – not scored. On paper, write the letter in the box. Block 1 is the bottom of the tower, the hottest.
