Maximum volumetric flow scorecard

Choose your file in the menu (or type the flows of a custom range), mark each band on screen or on paper, and the card suggests the Max volumetric speed for your filament profile. How to judge a band: maximum volumetric flow guide.

Write down too: filament brand, type, colour, temperature, hotend, nozzle, extruder, the tool (IDEX: one card per tool), your external perimeter acceleration, date. A value without them is useless next month.

Follows the max-flow test v1.3.0, hex column and wedge (all nine files are in the menu; the _T0 / _T1 files have the same bands). Judge the middle of the two long straights. The wall decides together with Heater sag and Clicks: any of them failing makes the band fail. Printed on A4: the rules on page 1, the grid on page 2.

How the limit is chosen

  1. Read from the bottom up, on the middle of the two long straights, both walls, in the upper two thirds of each band (its first layers are the transition).
  2. Mark the wall of each band: ✓ pass (even, complete, same gloss as below), ◐ degrading (matte or satin, the odd thin line, lines still complete), ✕ fail (gaps, missing or stringy lines, light through the wall), – not scored.
  3. Tick Heater sag if the hotend temperature sagged more than about 3 °C during that band, and Clicks if the extruder clicked or knocked. Either one counts as a fail, even if the wall still looks fine.
  4. The onset is the lowest band that fails. The limit is the band just below it.
  5. Set the filament's Max volumetric speed to 85 % of the limit (80 % if the limit band was already degrading; up to 90 % for a clean, sharp onset).
  6. Band 1 already fails: not a flow problem (temperature far too low, clog, wet filament, wrong filament diameter). Nothing fails: print the next file up for your nozzle.
  7. IDEX: one card per tool. Write the tool, nozzle and temperature on it.

Click a wall cell to cycle: blank → ✓ pass → ◐ degrading → ✕ fail → – not scored. Click Heater sag or Clicks to mark them ●. On paper, write the sign in the box. Band 1 is the bottom of the tower.
